About Us

Founded in 1965, The St. Helen Unicycle Drill Team's mission is to entertain and delight audiences and to build confidence in our team members as they develop their skills. With a passion for pushing the limits of what’s possible on a unicycle, we have enjoyed performing for various groups and organizations and riding in parades and festivals over the last 60 years. Relive moments from our history through photos, reflecting on memories and opportunities that have brought us to where we are today.

Father James J.  Moran

The St. Helen Unicycle Drill team was founded by Father James J. Moran in 1965. Father Moran is among the 14 founding charter members of The Unicycling Society of America.  Father Moran had originally gone to purchase a two-seated bicycle for the school. They stumbled across a unicycle and the shop and purchased it, too. It sat in St. Helen for two years before a student learned how to ride it. That student taught another student, and it took off from there.
